Explore Our Nurse Assistant Certificate Program

Earn your nursing assistant education with flexible hybrid training at the second-largest nursing school in Minnesota and join more than 8,000 St. Scholastica nursing alumni. St. Scholastica utilizes OnTrack Nursing Assistant training developed by LeadingAge Minnesota Foundation and powered by EduCare.

Interested in becoming a nurse assistant? With our curriculum and hands-on training, students can explore careers as a certified nurse assistant such as: certified nursing assistant (CNA), home health aid, hospice aid, patient care technician, emergency medical technician (EMT), and medical assistant. Our Nursing Assistant Training program is offered at our Duluth campus and available partially online.

Nursing Assistant Training Fast Facts

Course Outline

Once enrolled in the Nursing Assistant Training program, you will receive an email to register for on-campus skills and clinical hours. Make sure that you complete all learning modules, including the OnTrack Skills Bundle & OnTrack Training Course Bundle, before the first day of class. Failure to do so may subject you to a financial penalty and you will be required to reschedule for a future class based on availability.

A total of 78 hours — online and in-lab

  • 44 hours of theory online: schedule on your own time/completed asynchronously
  • 34 hours in-person in Duluth, two 8-hour days, and two 9-hour days*

*Upon enrollment, you will receive an email to register for on-campus skills/patient care sessions. Multiple sessions will be offered throughout the year in Duluth. Sessions will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. 

The courses will meet both Wisconsin and Minnesota requirements and are available, with face-to-face hours available in Duluth.

Successful completion of a nursing assistant training course or current registration (at the time of program start) as a certified nursing assistant is a requirement for the Traditional and Post-baccalaureate Nursing Programs.
